British Summer Institution Introduction

via weheartit

25 days and counting until I head over the pond to London! My very first trip to London, I might add. I can’t wait to see what adventures are ahead of me.

My bags are hypothetically packed and I’m ready to go! I have all my books for my good ol’ Brit Lit course. This includes: Will’s Much Ado About Nothing, Emily’s Wuthering Heights, R. L. S. Kidnapped, Jane Austen’s Persuasion, and China Mieville’s The City and The City. Oh and Eric, beware these links are a joke… kind of.

I’ve been reading every magazine article I can get my hands on about Will and Kate. I’m considering sparknoting (yes, a verb in my vocabulary) Harry Potter, so that I can understand my travel groups’ jokes. Maybe I’ll have a Harry Potter movie marathon before I depart, too. Any takers?

I need to update my iTunes library with Britain’s latest hits and watch a feel-good movie with Hugh Grant or something. All English recommendations welcome.

Can’t wait!

rainy days

via weheartit

It’s a rainy Cinco de Mayo. I don’t mind a rainy day when I don’t have to watch to classes and meetings all day. Wish I had a great pair of Hunter rain boots – then I’d be set. Oh and just two weeks ago I watched Breakfast at Tiffany’s for the first time. I was delighted to see this picture of Holly and Paul; it’s so romantic.

travelpod + stoke travel

My travelpod blog has been getting lots of attention and I didn’t even know it. Now I do. Thanks to toby from Stoke travel. They are this incredible travel company. Kids, if you’re in Europe or near it this summer, you’d be a fool not to check these guys out. (Oh and Toby, I graduate May 2012. I can start work June 1).

Here are the boys showing everyone a good time at the Pamplona campsite.

This blog entry doesn’t do Pamplona, Spain, my experience there or Stoke travel any justice but it s a bloody good read.

I simply wrote about my awesome adventures through Spain, where I stayed with Stoke Travel a few times. Here is where I go on and on about cliff jumping. I’m the one that just jumped in!

I’m the one that just jumped in the Bay of Biscay! This is at Stoke Travel’s surf camp in the North of Spain.

For more pictures of my Spanish adventures, including one’s with Stoke Travel: Check out my facebook album at this public link. Enjoy!

Travel Pod is a really neat blog and I hope to continue to use it after my Europe and Peru trip this summer. I love the interactive map. Please check it out to see what my travels took me.

Thanks Travel Pod for the attention and thanks Stoke Travel for a good time.

porque? perché? why?

Italian fashion is hard to ignore. Even in my best I looked aweful in Italy. Dang you Italian women in your 4-inch heels. Blessed.
The food was what I miss most of Italy. Here is a dish I helped prepare in a real Italian kitchen.
Michaelangelo's David can be seen a few times while in Florence and even around the world.
The Duomo can be seen from all over Florence. It was a daily reminder that I wasn't in Kansas anymore.

Why I like Italian more than Spanish:

1. the language is beautiful – everything seems smoother and like a song

2. the people are beautiful – they dress better than I could ever imagine

3. the food is to die for – ah, thinking about makes me want to buy a plane ticket

4. I love Michaelangelo, Raphael, Leonardo, Botticelli, Donatello
(and no not the tuttles)

5. the overall feel in Italy is different: slow, soothing and sexual

6. Whenever I think I’m speaking Spanish, I’m actually speaking Italian: my subconscious loves Italian more

USA TODAY College Blog

I visited Siena, Italy in June 2009. Every student should enjoy a study abroad trip before graduating. This photo is featured in the USA Today article.

I was published last semester in USA TODAY’s College Blog. I was asked to be a blog rep for the University of Kansas. It was a great experience, and I can’t wait to write for them again soon. Check out the article.

The article is about Things You Should Do Before You Graduate. But even college grads should check it out – there might be things you need to go back and accomplish.

Let me know what you think should be added to the list. What fun things have you done that ever student should try? Been skydiving or to a broadway show? Tell us about your experiences. Leave a comment and let me know.

My Bucket List

Having my Bucket List on my website is key. To get to know me you need to understand that I am goal-oriented, driven, adventurous and have a love for life. Check out my list and tell me what you think. I’d love to have friends and family (heck, maybe even strangers) help me cross off things on my Bucket List. Take an idea and run with it and tell me about your experience. I’ll be sure to continue to live life to the edge and keep you posted along the way. Enjoy!
