My first visit was back in January when I first moved to Jacksonville, FL. This experience at Salty Fig was within the first month of it opening, which is why I let it slide that the service was absolutely horrible. The server started off nice and friendly, but quickly became overwhelmed and forgetful.
It took more than an hour to get our order. The manager noticed how unhappy we were and offered us a free drink. I gratefully took him up on this offer and ordered a Spicy Watermelon Margarita, one of the better Margaritas I have ever had.
IF YOU GO TO SALTY FIG: Order the Spicy Watermelon Margarita (Maestro Dobel Tequila, Cointreau, Fresh Watermelon Puree, Jalapeno Infused Simple Syrup, Fresh Lime).
I shared the Edamame and Gorgonzola Chips with my friends.
The Edamame was good and lightly covered in Hickory Smoked Sea Salt. The Gorgonzola Chips were very yummy. It was a warm Gorgonzola fondue, fresh chives and they’re covered in a balsamic glaze. They were tasty.
My friend ordered the Bacon and Oyster Sandwich and the Texas Toast was very soggy. The Bacon and Oyster Sandwich comes as Apalachicola Oysters, Pork Belly, Tomatoes, Argula, Homemade Pickles on Texas Toast.
I ordered the Fish Tacos and they were good but not $13 good. Mahi Mahi, Citrus Slaw, Mango-Serrano Salsa and Lime Sour Cream. The salsa was not flavorful or good.
I visited a second time on a Monday in June and enjoyed a delicious Rasberry Moonshine. They’re Moonshines are $5 on Moonshine Mondays.
I ordered The Burger. It was a good burger but I would not order it again. It came with Black Angus,, Caramelized Onions, Maytag Blue Cheese, Arugula, Tomato, Homemade Pickles (which I asked to have on the side) all on Ciabatta Bread. The Bread was not fresh. However, the Black Angus tasted okay.
I would not return to Salty Fig unless someone was buying me a Moonshine or a the Spicy Watermelon Margarita.
